The short answer: a biodata for a job is a one-page document with your personal details, contact information, education, skills, experience and a signed declaration. Use it when an employer asks for "biodata"; for most private jobs, a resume is better.
Biodata vs resume
| Biodata | Resume | |
|---|---|---|
| Focus | Personal details + education | Skills, work and results |
| Common for | Local businesses, factories, some government forms | Most private jobs |
| Length | 1 page | 1 page for freshers |
| Photo | Usually included | Only if asked |
If you are not sure, send a resume. See our guide on how to make a resume for freshers.
Sections of a job biodata
- Title: "Biodata" at the top, with a passport-size photo on the right.
- Personal details: name, father's name, date of birth, gender, languages known.
- Contact details: mobile number, email, current address.
- Educational qualification: a small table with exam, board/university, year and percentage.
- Skills: computer, typing, driving, trade skills.
- Work experience: employer, role, duration — or "Fresher".
- Declaration: one line saying the details are true, with date, place and signature.
Details such as religion, caste, height or marital status are not needed for a job biodata. Leave them out unless a form specifically requires them.
